I was in charge of overall color timing and shot enhancements. Among them are this epic shot of the Orange Sky Bar and lounge. I replaced the sky, created a sunset environment, and added flares and other effects to complete the look.
Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 2:00AM A repost from my original iweb site. This is a project done though Copper Post for Cable One. This spot had many effects shots to contend with: Screen replacements, Keys, 3D Models, and two background replacements.
The agency wanted a different background for this shot. I composited the background with photos from my own collection. Then I animated the water, sky, and trees. Some extensive rotoscoping and creative problem solving enabled me to blend the new background with the original scene.
This scene had too many leaves and other debris in the water. Instead of painting out each one of the leaves in this moving shot, I simply mirrored the top half of the image and matched the colors of the original scene. I then gave it some ripples and distortions before finally placing it at a transparency over the original shot to keep a natural look.
This is just one of many screens that had to be replaced in post. This particular shot has many layered elements to create the final shot.
The original screen is stabilized to counter any wobble of the camera and film wave. I then constructed and animated the 3D scene using some purchased models. I created the came interface in Photoshop. These elements were layered on the original screen.
To create some realism, the actor was layered on a background to create a reflection on the screen.
Finally, the OTS of the actor was keyed and placed on top of the composite.
